End of Year 1 exams: Learner response

 1) Type up your feedback from both papers in full (you do not need to write marks/grades if you do not wish to).

PAPER 1: 
www: This is a valuable lesson in how much you need to engage with the content and learn/revise as you go. If you can add that depth of understanding you will start to move up towards the higher levels.

EBI: Although your bog work is up to date. you are not answering the questions in enough depth so when it comes to the exam the knowledge is there. without detailed understanding you will be stuck on lower levels

PAPER 2:  
www: This id your first attempt at Tv exam and it needs to be a good lesson in skills and knowledge required. 

EBI: Revise narrative theories and terminology
1.3 needs to focus specifically on the clip.,
Q2 needs much more specific reference to the CSP episodes. 

2) Look at the two mark scheme documents linked above. Pick out ONE thing from Paper 1 and ONE thing from Paper 2 that you learned from the mark schemes:
  • Paper 1: i learnt non verbal codes.  
  • Paper 2: i learnt what narrative theory is. 

3) Look specifically at your Paper 1 exam. Write down THREE things you need to improve for next time you take on a Paper 1 mock exam. 
  • i need to explain more when answering questions 
  • i need to focus on connotations 
  • i need to follow the structure of a narrative. 

4) Now focus on Paper 2. Write down THREE things you need to improve for next time you take on a Paper 2 mock exam (Television).

  • i need to use mise-en-scene 
  • I need to expand on my questions and add more knowledge. 
  • to analyse a media product using the theoretical framework
5) What final overall grade do you hope to achieve in GCSE Media Studies this time next year?

i'm aiming for a grade 7

  The graphic identity / artist and song name on the white wall background works well. However, if that bit is performance lip-syncing it isn’t synced up correctly so you’ll need to either re-edit it to line it up or re-shoot it if the performance doesn’t match the song. This will be a vital aspect for the real coursework as you’ll need the lip syncing edited perfectly in time. The shots/narrative fit the feel of the song well. I wonder if it’s worth trying some filters or slow motion to increase the emotional intensity of the video?
